Transparent Heat Transfer Paper Instructions

Equipment:

- Hayes Paper Co® Transparent Heat Transfer Paper

- T-shirt or natural fabric

- Inkjet printer

- Heat press (recommended) or Hand Iron

- Wax or kraft paper

- Scissors or circuit cutter

Select Fabric

For best color results use a light fabric. This paper has a clear base color, so your fabric color will show through your design. The content of the fabric must be 100% natural, cotton, linen or silk. Fine woven fabrics or smooth fabrics will give best results. Polyester blend fabrics will not work well with this product.

Pre wash Fabric

Pre wash your material and dry thoroughly before applying design. This avoids any shrinkage after design is applied.

Design and Print Image

  1. Design artwork for printing. Then mirror it prior to printing.
  2. Load Hayes Paper Co Transparent Heat Transfer Paper into printer. The whiter and matte surface is the surface you need to print on. The backside will have a grid or a smooth plastic/ waxed feel.
  3. Set Inkjet printer settings to high quality or Plain Paper High Quality works great. The image resolution should be over 300DPI for best results.
  4. Print design and let it dry for 5 minutes before pressing.
  5. Cut design out using scissors or a circuit cutter. Cut close to the edge, as the paper is a clear film so the edges will be visible if you leave a border.

 Heat Press Machine Instructions

  1.  Preheat the press machine to 365°F or 185°C and set to medium - high pressure.

  4. Place a protective layer of paper over heat transfer paper.
  5.  Press for 20-35 seconds.
  6.  Open the press and remove the fabric.
  7. Immediately peel backing off. Heat transfer paper is "hot peel" so it needs to be removed while it is still hot. Caution paper is really hot when touching. Tweezers can be used to help remove the backing if it is too hot to touch.
